Stitching in Lucca with Deborah Wilding
From 17th to 24th May, we had the joy of hosting the ever-inspiring Deborah Wilding for a week of stitching, sunshine, and unforgettable moments in the heart of Tuscany. Set in the charming city of Lucca, our retreat brought together embroidery enthusiasts from around the world—including our youngest ever guest, Daisy, all the way from Canada!
Deborah brought a stunning selection of projects that captured the imagination and showcased her signature style, including:
With each piece, Deborah guided our guests with her warm and generous teaching style, creating an atmosphere of encouragement, discovery, and joy.
Our creative home for the week was the elegant Villa La Principessa, where we were treated to delicious Italian cuisineprepared by the hotel’s talented staff. Lunchtimes were a highlight, often enjoyed al fresco in the peaceful garden, surrounded by laughter and the sound of birdsong.
Our excursion day took us to the iconic city of Pisa, where we indulged in a bit of shopping and, of course, visited the Leaning Tower and Cathedral. We returned to Lucca for a relaxed lunch and a gentle walk through the historic old town, gelato in hand and smiles all around.
The week was a beautiful blend of creative focus and Tuscan charm, made even more special by Deborah’s presence.
We’re delighted to share that Deborah will be joining us again next year in Madeira, soaking up a little winter sun in February 2026. And even more exciting—she’s preparing to open a larger studio in her hometown of Clevedon to offer more embroidery classes. We couldn’t be more thrilled for her and look forward to cheering her on in this new chapter.
