Chrissie Juno Mann

Embroidery Artist, Educator, Author, and Founder of Cloud Juno

Chrissie Juno Mann is a hand embroidery artist and international tutor known for her rich understanding of historical techniques and her commitment to keeping the art of hand stitching alive and accessible. Based in the New Forest, Chrissie has been immersed in the world of embroidery since childhood, nurturing a lifelong love for thread, texture, and textile storytelling.

She holds a Master’s degree in Conservation and Restoration of the Decorative Arts, which deepened her appreciation for historical craftsmanship and its relevance today. Her specialist training in hand embroidery was completed at the Royal School of Needlework at Hampton Court Palace, where she graduated with distinction and now teaches across a variety of RSN programmes. Her passion for precision, heritage, and creativity is evident in every aspect of her teaching, whether she’s working with beginners or advanced students.

Chrissie is the founder of Cloud Juno, her independent embroidery business that offers beautifully curated kits, one-of-a-kind designs, and enriching learning experiences both in person and online. As a freelance tutor, she teaches regularly across the UK and internationally, leading workshops and embroidery holidays in partnership with respected organisations. She has also developed a vibrant and supportive online community through her Zoom classes, connecting stitchers from around the globe with her clear instruction and thoughtful guidance.

She is the author of 50 Blackwork Patterns: Book 1 and Book 2—two popular publications that explore the elegance of this historic technique through modern design. Both books have been warmly received and are now stocked in a number of countries.

Chrissie’s work has been celebrated through numerous awards and exhibitions. In 2017, she won a kneeler design competition for the Worshipful Company of Broderers, with her work presented to St. Olave’s Church, Hart Street in London. The following year, she was awarded first prize in the Raised Embroidery category at an international competition hosted by Inspirations Magazine and the Beat Around the Bush convention. Her 2022 piece Bottled Curiositywas selected for The Art of Embroidery exhibition at the Bankside Gallery in London, and in 2023, she received third place in the global Mr. X Stitch competition for her powerful Blackwork portrait Ayanna. Most recently, her hand-embroidered stumpwork box An English Sonnet is on display at Parham House & Gardens as part of their 2024 season.

At the heart of Chrissie’s work is a desire to foster creativity, curiosity, and confidence in her students. She believes in the quiet power of hand embroidery as a form of expression, mindfulness, and storytelling. Through her teaching, designs, and personal portfolio, she invites others to rediscover the joy of creating with needle and thread, and to celebrate the beauty of nature, heritage, and detail.
