Join Lorna Bateman for a Dream Embroidery Holiday in the French Alps!

Thank you for your interest in the Dream Embroidery Holiday in the French Alps with Lorna Bateman. This is an exciting opportunity for embroiderers of all levels to join together for a week of stitching in a beautiful location.

The holiday will take place from the 10th - 17th July 2024. Lorna will provide 30 hours of tuition over 5 days, split between 3-hour morning and afternoon sessions. You will have the opportunity to complete your chosen project with Lorna's guidance and expertise.

The classes will be held in a large open-plan studio in a beautiful mountain chalet with stunning views of the Arve valley and mountains. This is a perfect place to stitch and make new friends with like-minded stitchers.

Mark, with 20 years of culinary experience in world-class restaurants, will create dishes suited to each class, taking into consideration any dietary requests. He will use local, seasonal produce to create a menu that excites the palate while remaining familiar enough not to be intimidating.

Nadine and Mark will be available throughout the booking process and your stay to provide any assistance you may need, from airport transfers to dietary needs or lost luggage.

There is also a day set aside for an excursion to Annecy, where you can enjoy a relaxing cruise on the lake, followed by lunch in a classic French bistro and an afternoon of shopping in local haberdashery shops.

This is an opportunity not to be missed, and we can't wait to welcome you to Creative Experiences. Book your place now and get ready for an unforgettable stitching holiday in the French Alps!

About The Host

Lorna Bateman

Lorna Bateman

I have been teaching for over 30 years now in related fields of 3-dimensional and textured hand embroidery and have designed my own range of kits for 20 years. I work full-time as an embroidery teacher and designer and have done so since 1989.

I enjoy working with a variety of threads and silk ribbons to achieve a raised and textured effect in my work. I love experimenting with a number of different embroidery techniques, including ribbon embroidery, stumpwork, crazy patchwork, painting on fabric, canvaswork and applique. I am passionate about colour and about nature and often use flowers and landscapes as sources of inspiration.

I have lived in the UK for the past 19 years, having originated from South Africa. My teaching has taken me all over the UK, South Africa, Russia, France and the USA.

I have had my work featured and published in a numbers of publications, including Stitch (UK) and Australian Inspirations, amongst many others. I have appeared on Justhands-On-TV and also on Hochanda craft channel. My book, Embroidered Country Gardens, was published in July of 2019 and released in French in 2020.

Teaching is my passion! My goal is to try and encourage people to try as many different forms of embroidery as possible, using a kit as an aid to move onto working and experimenting with their own designs. I love working with beginners and reaping the rewards of their enjoyment.
