Jane Drummond

Jane has been a life long stitcher but her first career was nursing which she did for 20 years. Since leaving nursing Jane has studied embroidery extensively, she gained City & Guilds parts 1&2 in preparing working design and embroidery. After C&G Jane studied with Tracy Franklin in Durham and was awarded distinction in both certificate and diploma from the RSN, she also received an award for technical excellence from the merchant Taylor’s company.

Jane has embroidered at Lincoln cathedral for over 30 years where she has designed, made and restored ecclesiastical vestments. During this time Jane also worked for The Landi Company which is a textile conservation studio, where she was privileged to work on many interesting and precious items. Undertaking private commissions for other churches has also kept Jane busy. Jane has been an active member of Sleaford Embroiderers and Lincs Textiles for many years, both groups hold regular exhibitions and give members opportunity to learn through workshops and develop their embroidery skills.

Jane was delight to be selected to work one of the main panels for Cornelia Parkers Magna Carta project and she also made a contribution to the coronation anointing screen. Currently Jane is leading the Lincoln Cathedral team in their participation of the Upholderers Co. Circle of Life project, including teaching 6 “apprentices “some aspects of medieval embroidery. Jane is a Freeman of the City of London and a Liveryman of the Worshipful company of Broderers.
