Thank you for your interest in the Embroidery Holiday in the French Alps with Kate Cross. This is an amazing opportunity for embroiderers of all levels to spend a week stitching in a beautiful mountain chalet with panoramic views.

Kate will provide 30 hours of tuition split between 3-hour morning and afternoon sessions over 5 days. You will have the opportunity to learn new techniques and complete your chosen project with Kate's guidance.

The classes will be held in a large open-plan studio, providing ample space for you to work on your project while enjoying the stunning views. You will also have the chance to meet and connect with like-minded stitchers and make new friends.

Mark, a culinary expert with 20 years of experience, will be creating dishes suited to each class, taking into consideration any dietary requests. You will be able to enjoy local, seasonal produce in a menu designed to excite your palate.

Nadine and Mark will be available to assist you throughout the booking process and your stay, from airport transfers to dietary needs.

There will also be an excursion day to Annecy, where you can enjoy a relaxing cruise on the lake, a delightful lunch in a classic French bistro, and an afternoon of shopping in local haberdashery shops.

About The Host

Kate Cross

Kate Cross

Kate Cross completed her RSN Apprenticeship with distinction in 2009.  Prior to this she studied for a degree in Art.  Along with teaching on RSN Day Classes and the Certificate and Diploma course, Kate was involved in the establishment of the Future Tutor Course at the RSN. Kate is author of the RSN technique book in Applique which was published in 2016.

Kate runs her own business called Bespoke Embroidery based in Godalming, Surrey and works public and private commissions and teaches privately. Kate has worked on some prestigious commissions as part of the RSN team of stitchers. Projects have included working on the Princess of Wales wedding Dress and the  Coronation of Their Majesties The King & Queen Camilla.

Kate believes that excellent teaching is fundamental to retaining the heritage and skill level in embroidery and as part of this ethic she has completed a PGCE in Education.  Her mantra for teaching is “embroidery is enjoyable, fun and visually exciting”.
