Join the Creative Experiences team and renowned passementerie artist Elizabeth Ashdown on April 17th, 2025, in the UNESCO world heritage city of Provins for a 4-day passementerie masterclass. Following the workshop, enjoy a 2-night stay in Paris with exclusive textile tours led by Rebecca Devaney. Elizabeth Ashdown, one of the UK's few hand passementerie artists, blends traditional craft skills with a modern touch, creating unique and vibrant artworks and custom passementerie lengths. With a studio in London, Elizabeth serves a diverse clientele, from private collectors to exhibitions, showcasing her work nationally and internationally. Notably, she was awarded the prestigious Queen Elizabeth Scholarship Trust ADAM Architecture Scholarship for passementerie.

Passionate about sharing her craft, Elizabeth offers Passementerie Masterclasses both online and in person. Her upcoming book, "Passementerie handcrafting contemporary trimmings, fringes, tassels and more," will be published by Schiffer in May 2024. Elizabeth holds an MA in Textiles from the Royal College of Art and is a proud member of The Clothworkers’ Company.

Accommodation for the masterclass will be at the exquisite 4-star “Hôtel Aux Vieux Remparts” in Provins, located in the enchanting medieval area. The hotel features comfortable rooms, a newly renovated spa, and all-inclusive stitching amenities, including snacks and drinks. Meals, from buffet breakfast to three-course lunches and dinners, will be provided at the hotel.

In Paris, stay at the stylish “Ibis Styles Paris Gare de l'est Magenta” near Paris Gare de l’Est train station. Enjoy a leisurely afternoon upon arrival, followed by a scenic Seine river boat tour and dinner. With Rebecca Devaney, explore Paris's finest haberdasheries and visit “Au Ver à Soie” during a private tour the next day. The following morning, embark on a guided tour of a passementerie factory with Elizabeth before checking out.

Elizabeth Ashdown

One of only a few hand Passementerie artists working in the UK today, Elizabeth combines traditional and endangered craft skills with a contemporary aesthetic in order to create intriguing, energetic and playful art works and bespoke lengths of passementerie.

Working from her studio in London, Elizabeth creates work for a diverse range of clients including creating hand woven, bespoke artwork commissions for private collectors, to creating artworks for exhibitions and weaving bespoke passementerie lengths. Elizabeth has exhibited her passementerie artworks both nationally and internationally.

In 2023, Elizabeth was awarded the first Queen Elizabeth Scholarship Trust ADAM Architecture Scholarship for passementerie.
