Stitch & Discover: Potsdam Embroidery Retreat with Tatiana Popova - 5th – 12th August 2026

This summer, join Tatiana Popova in Potsdam for a week of stitching, learning, and discovery. A Ukrainian embroiderer with a worldwide following, Tatiana began teaching internationally in 2013 and has since inspired students across Europe, the USA, Japan, and Australia. She is also the author of several books on embroidery and the creative force behind Owl Crafts, known for her elegant crewel and ribbon embroidery designs.

Across four and a half teaching days (27 hours), Tatiana will guide you through one of her signature projects. Guests may choose from three of her most popular designs – ranging from the delicacy of crewelwork florals to the enchanting textures of silk ribbon embroidery. Whether you’re a beginner or an experienced stitcher, you’ll benefit from Tatiana’s clear, encouraging teaching style and her wealth of tips and techniques. Each project offers plenty of opportunity to learn, experiment, and enjoy bringing your chosen design to life.

Our base for the week is the welcoming 4-star MAXX Hotel Sanssouci Potsdam, ideally located for both stitching and exploration. To enrich your stay, we’ve planned two excursions: one discovering Potsdam’s regal charm, the other offering a taste of Berlin’s historic highlights. Tatiana Popova

Ukrainian embroidery artist and designer Tatiana Popova discovered her love of stitching at an early age and has since dedicated her life to the needle arts. Over the years, she studied a wide range of embroidery styles and techniques, nurturing a passion that would eventually grow into her career.

With a background in floristry, Tatiana has always been inspired by flowers and their intricate forms. She now brings this training into her embroidery, transforming blossoms into delicate works of art in silk ribbon and thread. Her pieces are celebrated for their lifelike quality, texture, and refined detail — hallmarks of her unique style.

Tatiana is the founder of Owl Crafts, a company dedicated to producing high-quality kits for silk ribbon and crewel embroidery. These kits allow stitchers of all levels to engage with her designs and learn her techniques, whether at home or in the classroom.

Since 2013, Tatiana has been teaching internationally, sharing her expertise and enthusiasm with students across the UK, USA, Japan, Australia, and beyond. She is also the author of several embroidery books, further establishing her reputation as both a skilled practitioner and a generous teacher. Her classes are known for blending tradition with innovation, offering practical tips alongside original techniques that make embroidery approachable, enjoyable, and endlessly inspiring.

Through her work, Tatiana continues to connect people to the timeless beauty of hand embroidery, encouraging creativity, patience, and a deep appreciation of craft. Whether through her books, kits, or workshops, she inspires students worldwide to stitch their own pieces of art.
